Greg Jake

Greg Jake decided he wanted to work in radio at age seven, when he began spinning records in his bedroom and recording homemade shows onto a tiny cassette recorder, complete with song introductions, traffic reports, shout-outs and an unusually high number of requests for Ray Parker Jr.’s “Ghostbusters.”

Born and raised in Mesquite, Texas, Greg grew up listening to legendary Dallas stations like Q102, 97.1 The Eagle and 94.5 The Edge. His radio career officially began in 1994 at KEOM, where the 17-year-old grunge and metal fan spent his shifts playing Wings, Styx and the Eagles. It was not exactly the dream, but it built character.

After graduating from Poteet High School, where he became senior class president after running as a joke, Greg landed an internship at 106.1 KISS FM. His career later took him through Tyler, Baton Rouge, San Antonio and back to Dallas, with stops at Wild 100, K-Rock, 99.5 The Wolf, ABC Radio Networks and The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show.

Along the way, he collected an impressive number of radio names, including Dawson, Greg Phoenix, G.R. Shovenstuff, Rex Ray, Smasher, Free Beer, Jake Daniels and Greg Daniels before finally settling on Greg Jake.

After stepping away from traditional radio to pursue more creative opportunities, Greg built a career as a professional voice actor and on-camera commercial actor. He also hosts Tomorrowland Anthems on Tomorrowland’s One World Radio, spent nearly a decade hosting Spinnin’ Sessions and created the artist interview series The Drop with Greg Jake.

Now he is back on Dallas radio as the Monday-through-Friday midday host on Rad Radio, playing the ’90s and 2000s alternative music that shaped him. Expect stories, laughs, memories and a side of Greg’s personality that listeners may not have heard before.

When he is not behind a microphone or in front of a camera, Greg enjoys working out, experimenting with tech gadgets, sampling IPAs, noodling on his guitar, making questionable beats in Reason and cheering on his kids.
